Tom started as a part-time weekend person at WWGO while in high school and
also worked for WWYN after that and WRIE part-time. He continued to do so while attending Edinboro
and then got his first full-time radio job at WREO in beautiful downtown Ashtabula, Ohio. (circa 72).
Lopez was a full-time person on WCCK under Bill Shannon from 73 to just about
79 when he left to come to Virginia.
Tom says his best early experience revolved around WRIE with the guys who came
in from WLW (Brady Louis and Bill Erb). They were great because they believed in personality
radio and community involvement. They were real radio pros and did it right.
Tom is
currently the Morning Host at Lite Rock Z95.1 in Charlottesville, VA, as "Jay Lopez."
